UPS Discontinues Holiday Surcharges For 2019
The decision to still levy additional surcharges on oversized/irregular packages stays consistent with their past actions trying to dissuade shippers from sending large packages through their parcel delivery network
This announcement shows the company's confidence in meeting increased consumer and E-commerce demands this holiday season. UPS, which handled between 700 and 800 million packages last holiday season, has significantly increased their delivery networks capacity in the past year. With the addition of 20 aircraft, 700,000 packages per hour of sorting capabilities at their Super Hub Centers, and partnerships with CVS, Advanced Auto, and Michaels that add over 10,000 UPS Access Points, UPS appears to feel that their delivery network is well prepared to meet delivery demands in a cost efficient manner this peak season.
